Why Should We Care

Why Should We Care about Bullying/Cyberbullying?

We should care because the love we have for our children and don’t want to see them be hurt by anyone.  I sure don’t want to see my children being bullied anymore, so I took a stand.  In the news you don’t see a lot about children being bullied, but there has been just recently.  A child can bring a weapon to school to take care of the bullying problem, quite going to school all together, shut down, or just kill themselves to stop the pain.  It is hard to hear your own child say they want to die to make it all stop.  My son was like that for a while until after Christmas break last year, we got the bullying to stop now he is a little better.  It is getting better day by day.  This is why we should care for the love of our children.

"Within U.S. schools, for every four kids enrolled, one is bullied regularly. Surveys have determined that the age group dealing with the most cases of bullying is students enrolled in sixth grade straight through tenth grade. Statistics show that 30% of bullies have been bullied by other students. Bullying occurs both at school and away from school in the cases of many children. Some 77% of students have been bullied verbally and even mentally. Reportedly, 14% of those students end up having a very severe negative reaction to bullying and abuse from their classmates. This causes problems such as declining grades, more anxiety and less desire to be around friends and have a social life."(NoBullying.com)

An 8th grader brought a gun to school on October 7, 2015.  The student brought the gun to use it on the person that was bullying him for the kind of clothes and shoes he wore.  The student snuck the gun into the school the day he was late for school and hide it in the ceiling tile in the bathroom.  A student walked into the bathroom while he was holding the gun and ran to tell someone that he had it. The school never notified the parent that they were in lock down that day to let us know what had happened.  I found out from my son when he came home so, we watched the news that night to see if they explained what happened.  I think they called a few days later to let us know, I think they did this because of the news.  My son said that they were told it was a knife and later on the news it was told that it was a gun. At first I would like to know how he got the gun into the school, they have to walk through metal detectors every day in the morning.  I read that the student was late for school and walked in the front door where there were no metal detectors.  I wonder if that is why they have one at the front door now.  “The fifteen-year-old was formally charged with two criminal counts, one being carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent.” (ABC News) I’m glad that no one was hurt and it was resolved quickly.
